Cerulean Majesty
In the first three paintings of the Series the foreground is featured at the BOTTOM of the frame. The artist reverses this in “Cerulean Majesty", thrusting the foliage at the TOP of the plane into the eye of the viewer. Additionally, circular motion is introduced by means of the contours of the mountains and the active brush strokes.

Circle of Life
Circular motion is again a prominent feature in "Circle of Life", achieved via careful positioning of the small decorative elements within each color block.
As in previous paintings, the viewer is pulled from front to back, but at a more leisurely pace. Lastly, a "softer" color palette is utilized. Oil on Canvas 18"W x 24"H x 1"D |
Dance of the Shamans
“Exploration of his innermost creative mind” was the focus of “Dance of the Shamans”. Still prominent in the picture is the ever-present range of mountains that circles the valley in which he resides. Fantasy is introduced via the other elements present, as well as the colors used.

Clash of the Titans
"Clash of the Titans” features the steady march from front to back, combined with circular movement created by a lively brush. Original to this piece are equally dominant foreground elements at both the top AND bottom of the picture plane. Finally, the placement of the darkest color creates an “in and out” action through foreground/background reversal. Oil on Canvas 24"w x 18"h |
Elevated Perspective
The position of the viewer is moved from bottom, center to the upper left in "Elevated Perspective".
This approach makes the viewer privy to an interesting viewpoint . Still apparent is the depth within the plane from front to back; it is further complimented by movement vertically - in this instance, from top to bottom. Oil on Canvas 18"w x 24"h |
QuietudeThe overwhelming feeling of this composition is one of tranquility - it is, indeed, the "calm after the storm".
There is still contained within the picture plane a plethora of activity - vigorous brush strokes, dynamic movement from front to back and the remnants of the summer storm. "Quietude" represents a gentle scuffle between the visual and the emotional. Oil on Canvas 18"w x 24"h |
Solitude"Solitude" departs radically from the previous painting - the primary element is front and center.
Though not at the very fore of the composition, through intentional use of color, the lighter element visually encompasses the foreground. While verticality is the primary motion, the work "opens up" as a result of the radiating brush strokes evident in the sky. Oil on Canvas 24"w x 18"h |
Nature's Alliance
In "Nature's Alliance" there is a coming together of the elements of nature - a union of all things, great and small.
Emotion is apparent once again - this time STRENGTH is projected to the viewer. The illusion of power is achieved not only through the proximity of the elements, but also through the VIBRANCY of color. Movement is primarily through verticality, with a lesser amount from the foreground to the back. Oil on Canvas 18"w x 24"h |
